GEW Switzerland 2020 ready for the start

MEDIA RELEASE: From 16 to 22 November numerous events, workshops and other activities for prospective entrepreneurs will be held under the Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) Switzerland for the 10th time. Initiated by Swissparks.ch and supported by Innosuisse, GEW will host various start-up organizations Nationwide (like Fongit, Business Parc Reinach, Startfeld, Business Angels Switzerland). And again, the universities of Geneva and Lausanne are very engaged partners. Swissparks.ch itself will offer a virtual workshop together with the Swiss Entrepreneurs Foundation. Because of the Corona pandemic most events will be online.

«2020 is a very special year, also for GEW Switzerland: entrepreneurs and innovators need extra support to manage the challenges related to the Corona pandemic. GEW provides them with a platform to inform and inspire, helping them to solve their problems and grow their start-ups», says James Miners, Senior Advisor at Fongit. The innovation incubator is one of the long-term Swiss GEW organisers together with over 30 other incubators, innovation and technology parks, impact hubs, universities and founder centres (like Business Parc Reinach, Startfeld Zurich, Business Angels Switzerland, USI Lugano and others).

GEW Switzerland 2020: Let yourself be inspired!

Raising awareness is the main goal of the Global Entrepreneurship Week, which will take place from 16 to 22 November. GEW Switzerland will be hosted by Swissparks.ch and supported by Innosuisse as new project partner. The HUB Entrepreneuriat et Innovation of the University of Lausanne will join GEW as key partner for the second time. This year’s motto is „Let yourself be inspired!“

GEW 2019 Switzerland: Raising more Awareness for Entrepreneurship

November numerous local events, workshops and networking occasions for prospective entrepreneurs will be held under Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) Switzerland. Initiated by Swissparks.ch, the campaign will host numerous entrepreneurship events nationwide. Key partner is the University of Lausanne with 30 events for 15’000 students.

BioBusiness Comprehensive Advanced Program in Lugano

Over 20 startup founders (2 from „Harvard“) participated at the Comprehensive Advanced Program on BioEntrepreneurship at the «Università della Svizzera italiana», USI, on 12-16 November. «My expectations were sky-high for Lugano – many founder-friends mentioned the course as the best-learning experiences in Switzerland (with a crazy amount of competition). You fully delivered – it was really a fantastic learning experience!” This the enthusiastic feedback. For the first time one of the participants gained the opportunity to pitch to the MIT Life Sciences Angels, a group of private investors up until now only open to start-ups affiliated to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Switzerland Innovation Park Biel/Bienne zeigt Jungunternehmern 3D Scan-Techniken

Der Switzerland Innovation Park Biel/Bienne bietet im eigenen FABLAB regelmässigWorkshops für Startups, Studenten und Interessierte an. Die gelernten Fähigkeiten werden v.a. von Jungunternehmern geschätzt und oft zum Erstellen von Prototypen genutzt. Als Teil der GEW Switzerland 2018 fand am 17. November der Workshop «3D Scan-Einführung» statt. Die Teilnehmer lernten dabei Objekte einzuscannen und nachzubearbeiten und erhielten Einblicke in den 3D Druck.

BaselArea Swiss with Life Sciences workshop in Allschwil

The last workshop of 2018 on the series organized by BaseLaunch and Swiss HLG on the 15th Nov in Allschwil attracted 20 participants – with several startup founders and pharma/biotech executives among it. The guest speaker Alexandra Carrel, Law firm Cabinet Carrel in Paris, offered a dynamic and very insightful evening on the topic “In-licensing from technology transfer offices”. The audience had a taste for what it takes to get a deal done, from the point of view of all parties involved in negotiating.

KMU Wirtschaftsforum in Schaffhausen mit Businessplan-Intensivkurs

Um angehende Unternehmer bei der Erstellung ihres Businessplans zu unterstützen, führte das KMU Wirtschaftsforum am 13. November in Schaffhausen einen eng betreuten Businessplan-Intensivkurs durch. Die 10 Teilnehmer wurden vom Gründungsexperten Georg Mihatsch vom IFJ Institut für Jungunternehmen in die Grundlagen des Businessplans eingeführt. Parallel dazu konnten die Besucher mithilfe eines Tools bereits ihren eignen Businessplan erstellen, um diesen für die Verwirklichung ihrer Geschäftsidee selbständig weiter zu entwickeln.

Fongit with interactive workshop in Geneva

As part of the GEW Switzerland week («Libérez vos idées»), Fongit welcomed 50 entrepreneurs on the 13th of November in Geneva. They took part in the roundtable „How to finance my startup“. The interactive workshop was about the sources of early-stage financing for start-ups. The speakers were: Antonio Gambardella & James Miners. Conclusion: « Different stages require different strategies, know your options and choose the best path. » The participants also used one of the most valuable aspects of the workshop – the networking opportunity.
